Selin launched her professional career in the “kitchens” of luxury segment hotel industry following her degrees from the prestigious School of Tourism and Hotel Management at Bilkent University and then highly acclaimed The Culinary Institute of America. She progressed her career into leadership positions within the Food and Beverage Division, later to move into field of HR through an opportunity presented (out of luck or conviction) in the capacity of Learning Manager. Selin built a reputation especially for effective and successful hotel openings through combining her operational competencies with theory in the field of L&D. Selin was assigned in hotel opening and change management projects within the Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts where her certification on International Human Resources Management from eCornell was valued, especially for her contributions in establishing the company culture in diverse and challenging geographies. In addition to her competence in all functional areas of HR, Selin stands out with her expertise in establishing and developing teams and systems/structures.
Following a successful global corporate career in Turkey, the USA, Russia, Oman and most recently Lebanon, Selin settled in the United Kingdom and established her company Soan Consulting Ltd servicing individuals, groups, companies, and particularly start-ups for HR consultancy needs, as well as training and coaching activities.
Selin is an active Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) in the UK; additionally, she is a certified professional coach who successfully completed ICF accredited coaching schools on Gestalt and Jungian coaching and is an active member of International Coaching Federation (ICF) UK chapter servicing individuals and groups/teams. Apart from her professional activities, Selin is an advisor/coach in a joint project of CIPD and Mayor of London aiming to integrate high school students into professional life/career, and devotes her time and expertise in collaboration with several not-for-profit Diversity & Inclusion projects supporting under-privileged and under-represented groups through empowerment in private and professional lives. A certified Personal Resilience Profile© and Deep Democracy Practitioner, Selin develops and facilitates customized virtual and in-person programs for organizations and companies. Selin also proudly and devotedly runs several support group programs as a service to community.
